      We have worked with a wide variety of industries, from chemical manufacturing to pharmaceutical manufacturing to tire re-treading to motion picture film processing. Our greatest amount of experience is in the electronics manufacturing industry, but over the years we have been involved with a large number of processes and operations.

      Speaking of “over the years” how long has Salmon and Schroeder been in business?

      John Schroeder, our Principal, began working as a solo consultant in 1986. Salmon and Schroeder incorporated in 1989 and has been operating continually since that then.


      What types of projects has Salmon and Schroeder done in those years of service to that wide variety of customers?

      We have designed control systems. We have engineered remediation projects. We have applied for permits. We have developed safety management systems. We have…We have…We have…. Please refer to the “What We Do” section of this web site for more details on many of our projects.

      What kinds of qualifications does Salmon and Schroeder have for these projects?

      We obtain whatever qualifications are necessary for the task at hand. Internally we have chemists, engineers, lawyers, accountants, Registered Environmental Professionals, and Certified Permitting Professionals. We are networked with a whole host of people with a whole host of skills, certifications, and education. Any part of this network can be called on to participate in a project we get to make sure that the right qualifications are available.


      What is the biggest challenge Salmon and Schroeder has ever faced in a project?

      That is a difficult question to answer because challenges come in so many forms. On a regulatory level it would probably have to be a negotiation with the California EPA, Department of Toxic Substances Control on a site investigation/remediation. The negotiations took several years, and involved dozens of people on both sides of the table. On an engineering level it would probably be working in the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia. Between the ethnic tensions and the scarcity of material and parts working there was quite a challenge.


      Does Salmon and Schroeder sell equipment?

      No. We are in business to give our clients the best technical advice, we do not want the issue clouded with commissions, or try to fit our equipment to their problem if there is a better answer. On the occasional project where we design equipment, we let the customer buy the parts direct and guide customer labor in the assembly. Occasionally, a customer has asked us to resell equipment to them, and we have done so, but we are not in business to sell equipment.

      You mentioned Macedonia!? Is there any place you will not work?

      So far — No. We have worked all over the US and in foreign countries like Hong Kong, Macedonia, the People’s Republic of China, and the Soviet Union (when it still existed.) We have visited Chernobyl and flooding sites on the Mississippi River. Most of our work is in California and Texas, but chances are we can help you no mater where you are.


      How is Salmon and Schroeder compensated for its services?

      Most of our work is on a straightforward Time and Materials basis. We charge by the hour for various professional grades in the firm and for expenses associated with the project. However, we can bid projects on a flat fee basis. We also can offer payment terms to clients that need them
